Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life.
(Matthew 6:26-27)
Like many of you, I too have regular bird visitors in my garden. I see them everyday, and I started recognising them,(well, some of them). For some reason they seem to believe that there is food in my back garden. At least that’s what I think they are thinking, and hence gives me a sense of responsibility. And there are weeks when I work a couple of long days together and I kind of forget them. But as always I do remember to scatter some seeds in the grass as well, just in case, my schedule gets busier and that I don’t want them to go hungry.
There are days when my road gets a bit rough, my heart feels a bit low and my support system gets a bit dissociated. And when this happens, I look up to the sky and say, “Lord, don’t know why, I am not up to it today, but I know you are there, and I know we’ll make it”. Sometimes I think I kind of put pressure on God by burdening him with faith. And I guess it gives Him a sense of responsibility to keep me going, the same way I feel for my birds.
Well, why not leave it to him when we surely know that by worrying, we can’t add a single hour to our life anyway? And, Why not just believe, and leave it up to him, and let him deal with the rest?
