We must have encountered circumstances where we had to make sacrifices, some of which are conscious decisions.
I have always wished to work in Research or Primary Care. I received an opportunity to work in Cancer research at a critical point in my Life. I was in a dilemma about whether to take the job or not because of the salary difference. That was when we were through a significant setback in Life, which impacted us emotionally and financially. Moreover, thoughts of buying our home were in line too.
I didn’t want my dream to put a burden on my husband. My husband and my parents surprised me by encouraging me to follow my dreams. Even though it made a hole in my annual income, my hubby supported me with this decision. Yes, I sacrificed my well-paid job for the career I wanted. It might sound crazy and unwise to people.
Even though money is vital, Life isn’t all about money. It shouldn’t be in the way of your dreams. Because I chose what I love, it doesn’t mean it’s a bed of roses; some days, it can be mentally exhausting. But at the end of each day, I come home satisfied, thinking that was the best decision of my Life.
P.S. When I took the job, I thought the dream of buying a home had drifted further away and might not happen sooner. However, eight months later, we got the keys to our house and by God’s grace, we moved in a week later on my birthday to our home. Sometimes we think things happen because we’ve planned it well, but Life has taught me so far that Life happens regardless of what we do or don’t do. And what helps me stay positive and keeps me going is my belief that ‘Everything happens for good to those who love the Lord’.
Much Love ❤️ God Bless
