We are a special breed that has the capability to move around from the roots and make our home anywhere in the planet(not forgetting that in the current time we have been so extensive even beyond the planet that we are searching for life sustainability in Mars and Moon).
Even though God made us so capable in making (and destroying) everything we want, there is always a place that we hold within us which is irreplaceable;
a place where we’ve spent most of our childhood,
a place where we made special memories,
a place where we have those special people that moulded us,
a place where we long to come back to,
a place where we never feel enough of being there,
a place where we leave behind a piece of our heart,
Indeed, a place that we love to call home..
Working and settling abroad is a dream for many. It is a good thing too, because we all study and earn degrees, to lead a decent living, which sometimes is not possible in a country with a huge population like ours with less opportunities.
I am sure the huge price we pay to live this dream does not go unnoticed. Not from a materialistic aspect, but the human aspect of sacrificing the luxury of our own home, our loved ones, our place where we belong and everything we have. The heartache we experience is unexplainable.
Every time we say good bye, we relive the uncertainty of whether we will be able to see our loved ones again. We go through the helplessness of not being able to be present for our elderly parents when they need us. In a way, the emotional trauma we experience is the price we pay for this life we live.
As the Star Alliance Air India AI149 787 Dreamliner ascended from Cochin International Airport to London Heathrow, I memorised each and every moment I spent with my loved ones, every place I visited, every taste I savoured at home in this holiday, so it remain etched to my heart until we land again.
I know that I’ve left behind a piece of mine there that reminds me every time to go back to find it and feel whole.
Until we meet again… adieu
Much Love and God bless..
